Erosion or evolution...depends on if you have ocean frontage

I feel so sorry for those people on the east coast and the problems they are having with the beaches being rearranged by the Ocean.

However, seems to me that what we have here is a natural process of land rearrangement of real estate. This so called erosion is simply something that has been happing for millions of years.

The only problem is now we have people that placed homes in areas that are simply transient. This idea may be beyond the scope of thought by property owners and the states that have promoted and created a huge tourist usage.

Our nation spends billions to refurbish the sand on the east coast. In many cases it is a major benefit to private parties, either homeowners or hotels and other beach front property owners.
Coastal areas are prone to hurricane damage, oceans move sand and beaches either grow or they shrink...and people choose to place themselves into areas that are dangerous and or are changing.

I think we need to sit back and see if nature will put back on it's own. Maybe the problems are added to by the dredging to obtain the sand that is being placed back on the beaches.
Quick fixes usually result in additional problems down the road....
